South, North Korea to discuss co-hosting 2032 Summer Olympics

(VOVWORLD) - South Korea and North Korea have agreed to hold working-level talks this week on sports cooperation, including co-hosting the 2032 Summer Olympics, Seoul's Unification Ministry said on Monday.

The talks will be held on Friday at the inter-Korean liaison office in North Korea's border town of Kaesong.

The two sides will discuss co-hosting the 2032 Summer Olympics and joint participation in the 2020 Tokyo Summer Olympics. This cooperation implements the Pyongyang Declaration which South Korean President Moon Jae-in and North Korean leader Kim Jong Un signed following their 3rd summit in Pyongyang in September.

After their last sports dialogue in November, the two Koreas agreed to jointly participate in international sports events and to field unified sports teams with the approval of the International Olympic Committee (IOC) and other international summer sports federations.
