South Sudanese warring parties reach accord

(VOVworld) – The South Sudanese government and the opposition agreed to “immediately stop hostilities” during peace talks in the Sudanese capital city of Khartoum.

At a press conference following the talks, Sudanese Foreign Minister Ali Karti said the South Sudanese opposition agreed to “accelerate the formation of a transitional government.”
The two sides also agreed to relieve the situation in the conflict zones by facilitating delivery of international humanitarian assistance and ensure the safety of foreign embassies in South Sudan. The peace talks were initiated by China and led by the Inter-Governmental Authority for Development (IGAD).
