Southern fruit festival opens

Opening the event was a parade show with colorful performances by artists from Brazil, India, Japan and Thailand and a fashion show called “Vietnam – Endless Beauty” featuring typical cultures of different regions across Vietnam.

Throughout the festival lasting until the end of August, a number of activities will be held, including the ninth contest on southern delicious and safe fruits, the Asia food festival and folk games. Bui Ta Hoang Vu is Director of Ho Chi Minh City’s Tourism Department: “This year’s festival features performances focusing on dishes made from fruits and cultural and gastronomic exchanges with other Asian countries in a spacious display area.”

The festival includes a floating market where more than 40 boats sell 150 types of fruits with up to 30 percent off market prices. The festival is a joint effort between the Ho Chi Minh Municipal Tourism Department, Suoi Tien Cultural Theme Park and relevant departments and agencies.
