Spain orders arrest of former Catalan MP
(VOVWORLD) - Spain’s Supreme Court on Wednesday ordered the arrest of former Catalan Member of Parliament Anna Gabriel after she failed to appear in court to answer charges related to Catalonia’s unilateral declaration of independence in October.

A court spokesman said prosecutors have issued an arrest warrant and asked Swiss authorities to extradite Gabriel.
Gabriel, a high-level member of the Catalan leftist CUP party, was summoned to court on charges of sedition and rebellion for her part in Catalonia’s illegal independence referendum. On Tuesday, Gabriel said she had decided to move from Spain to Switzerland and will return home when the charges are dropped.
