Spring festivals celebrate Lunar New Year

(VOVworld) – The 2017 Ngoa Van spring festival opened on Sunday in Dong Trieu town, Quang Ninh province.

Thousands of visitors burned incense at Ngoa Van pagoda on Bao Dai mountain where King-Monk Tran Nhan Tong had practiced Buddhism before he died in 1308.
“The Ngoa Van spring festival has great cultural significance and is an opportunity for visitors to show respect and gratitude for the merit of King-Monk Tran Nhan Tong and pray for a happy and peaceful year”, said Ha Hai Duong, Chairman of the Dong Trieu People’s Committee.

10,000 people joined in a “Happy Smile” program to convey a message of peace and solidarity at the An Lac spring festival on Sunday in Son Tay town, Hanoi. Held for the first time, the festival aims to preserve traditional cultural values and promote solidarity and love in the community.

An art program was held at Tan Thanh Temple spring festival in Lang Son province. The program included an exhibit of the cultural heritages of Lang Son province, a people’s exchange, and folk games such as cloth ball throwing and chess.

The Dong Tien festival and a rural market took place on Sunday in Ham Yen district, Tuyen Quang province, to promote the local ethnic culture. The festival prays for favorable weather and bumper crops all year round. Folk games, a buffalo contest, and traditional art performances were held as part of these events.
