Discussions focused on the restructuring of state budget and management of public debt to ensure safe and sustainable national finance, which are among Vietnam’s pillars of economic restructuring during its growth model transition and international integration process. Vietnam’s Ministry of Finance shared experience in prudent and sustainable management of public debts, issuance of government bonds, State financial reports, the model and functions of the Vietnam State Treasury amid modern financial management. Deputy Minister of Finance Do Hoang Anh Tuan said: “This is a forum for Vietnam to discuss challenges and results of implementing its strategic task of restructuring the national finance, which focuses on State budget and public debts for a safe and sustainable national finance. Vietnam persistently pursued this goal in the 2016-2018 period and achieved initial results.”

Established in 2012 as an initiate of the World Bank and the Republic of Korea (RoK)’s Ministry of Economy and Finance, PEMNA it aims to support governments across the region to address public financial management challenges and improve the efficiency and effectiveness of public spending through forums and experience sharing between members in the East Asia and Pacific region.
