State, Government leaders extend Tet greetings to soldiers, people

(VOVWORLD) -President Tran Dai Quang on Thursday night extended Tet (Lunar New Year) wishes, via a live TV program, to soldiers across Vietnam.

Talking to officers, soldiers and people on Song Tu Tay island on New Year's Eve, President Quang affirmed that the Party, State and people nationwide always reserve special sentiments towards those who are safeguarding national sovereignty.

“I highly appreciate the solidarity between soldiers and people on the island. I wish you a happy new year with the accomplishment of the misison of safeguarding the sacred sea and islands of the nation,” Mr. Quang said.

Greeting soldiers at the Dam Thuy border post in the northern province of Cao Bang, Mr. Quang urged them to exert every effort to work closely with local authorities and people in ensuring border security and protecting national sovereignty.

On Friday, Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc paid Tet visits to the armed forces of Da Nang city and met leaders of Hai Chau district.

Vietnam's top leaders are visiting to extend New Year wishes to the armed forces and residents across the country as part of the Vietnamese tradition during Tet celebrations.
