(VOVworld) – President Truong Tan Sang appreciated the Vietnam Red Cross Society (VRCS)’s humanitarian activities in recent times during a working session in Hanoi on Wednesday.

The Society has reached practical results through effective initiatives, such as campaign for the poor and Agent Orange victims, health check-ups and treatment, and humanitarian blood donation drives. It collected more than 130 million USD to help 17 million people in need last year. The President praised the “cow bank” model designed for the poor and border districts while calling for more initiatives to improve people’s lives in disadvantaged areas.
