Strong earthquake hits Japan

(VOVworld) - An earthquake measuring 5.6 on the Richter scale has struck off Kanto region, including Tokyo in the eastern Japanese coast on Monday.

No tsunami warning was issued. Japanese Meteorological Agency said it happened at 9:23 p.m. local time, about 40 kilometers underground, in southern Ibaraki prefecture, 41 kilometers northeast of Tokyo. Eastern areas of Japan also experienced tremors. No damage or injuries were reported.

Last week, a strong earthquake stroke southeastern Japan area, killing 50 people.
