"Sweden considers Vietnam an important partner in South East Asia"

(VOVworld) – Sweden considers Vietnam as an important partner in the South East Asia region and the ASEAN, said Swedish State Secretary for Foreign Affairs Annika Soder on Friday at a meeting with Vietnamese Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs Bui Thanh Son. The meeting was part of the visit to Sweden by National Assembly Chariwoman Nguyen Thi Kim Ngan.

Mr. Son welcomed Sweden’s proposal of establishing strategic partnership with Vietnam in education and training, science and technology and public health.

The two sides agreed to increase high-level delegate exchanges to promote bilateral cooperation in all fields, and closely cooperate and support each other in regional a nd international forums. They also agreed to support the early signing of the Vietnam-EU Free Trade Agreement (EVFTA). Regional and international issues, including the East Sea situation, were also discussed.
