Tanzania supports Vietnam's bid for membership at UN agencies

(VOVworld) -  President Truong Tan Sang on Friday held talks with Ali Mohamed Shein, visiting President of the semi-autonomous Zanzibar of Tanzania. Sang thanked Tanzania for supporting Vietnam’s candidature for being a non-permanent member of the UN Security Council for the 2020 – 2021 tenure and other UN organizations.

Sang stressed that the two countries have great potential for cooperation in economics, trade, agriculture, and food security. He suggested the two sides to review previous agreements and sign new agreements to create a stronger legal foundation for bilateral cooperation. Sang said Vietnam is willing to send agricultural experts to Zanzibar and Tanzania and offer incentives for enterprises of both sides to do business. Ali Mohamed Shein called for more bilateral cooperation for mutual benefits. He repeated that Tanzania supports Vietnam’s bid for membership at UN agencies and recognizes Vietnam’s market economy status.
