Tet gifts presented to disadvantaged, ethnic minority people

(VOVWORLD) - Party and State leaders have presented gifts to poor people and workers across the country ahead of Lunar New Year (Tet) festival which lasts from February 2-10 this year.

On Sunday, Secretary of the Party Central Committee and President of the Vietnam Fatherland Front Tran Thanh Man paid a Tet visit to social beneficiaries, poor households, and victims of Agent Orange/dioxin in An Giang province. 

Deputy Prime Minister Truong Hoa Binh on Sunday paid a Tet visit to Quang Tri province. On the occasion, Mr. Binh presented 150 gifts to local social beneficiaries and disadvantaged people.

On Saturday, Deputy Prime Minister Binh presented gifts to trade unions and workers at industrial parks in the Red River Delta province of Hai Duong.  Addressing a year-end gathering held for 410 underprivileged workers in Hai Duong by the Vietnam General Confederation of Labour, Binh expressed his hope that after the holiday, the workers will work harder to fulfill their tasks. He said: “The local administration, trade union organizations, and employers need to work more closely to ensure a happy Tet for workers and protect their legitimate rights.”

Tran Quoc Vuong, Politburo member and permanent member of the Party Central Committee’s Secretariat, on Saturday visited and presented 100 gift packages to poor households in Yen Bai province. On this occasion, the Joint Stock Commercial Bank for Foreign Trade of Vietnam (Vietcombank) handed over 260,000 USD to Van Chan and Van Yen districts to build schools in disadvantaged communes.

The same day, Chief Justice of the Supreme People’s Court of Vietnam Nguyen Hoa Binh paid a Tet visit to the Raglai ethnic group in Thuan Bac district, Ninh Thuan province and Cham painter Nguyen Che Kim Trung, whose art works have contributed to inspiring national unity.
