(VOVworld) – The 6^th Europe Meets Asia in Contemporary Dance festival opened on Wednesday in Hanoi with the participation of dancers from Germany, France, Israel, Japan, Austria, and Vietnam.

The festival began with the performance of contemporary dance “Laundries in Hanoi”, a collaboration between German dancer and choreographer Riki von Falken and Vietnamese media artist Nguyen Trinh Thi. Vietnamese troupes will perform dances titled “Yes yes no no” and “The Roof”. Choreographer Tran Ly Ly said the festival is an opportunity for Vietnamese artists to share ideas: “Dance, especially contemporary dance, is not popular in Vietnam but it has a certain position in our spiritual life. We cannot compare Vietnam’s contemporary dance with that of other countries, but we should learn to improve our skills and techniques”.
