(VOVworld)- The UK will step up to a new leadership role in the world as a defender of free trade and globalization when it leaves the EU, Prime Minister Theresa May said at the World Economic Forum in Davos on Thursday.

Addressing politicians and leaders of global business elites in Davos, May said that Britain will become more global after leaving the European Union.

May’s speech came after several leaders of multinational groups and CEOs of global banks said they were worried about the UK’s withdrawal from the EU single market which will hinder their business operations around the world.
