The two-day talks took place at the Democratic People’s Republic of Korea’s border city of Kaesong. The two sides failed to issue a joint statement or reach an agreement on a schedule for the next round of the vice ministerial-level talks. Experts say that the two Koreas could not narrow differences over sensitive issues such as the regular reunion of Korean families separated by the 1950-1953 Korean War, and the resumption of tours to the DPRK’s scenic resort of Mount Kumgang.
