UK sees South East Asia as first test of post-Brexit “Global Britain” strategy

(VOVWORLD) - The UK government is interested in boosting trade and investment cooperation with Southeast Asian nations and considers the region the first test of its post-Brexit “Global Britain” strategy, according to an article by UK-based Telegraph newspaper.

Indonesia will be one of the first targets of UK firms in the region under the strategy, which aims to ensure British economic, trade and investment influence after Brexit, the article said.

Professor Damian Chalmers of the London School of Economics and Political Science said that, although Vietnam and Malaysia have better business environments, Indonesia is more suitable to the UK’s ambition of extending its economic and trade influence globally after Brexit.
