Ukraine crisis: Both sides withdraw most of heavy weapons

(VOVworld) – Ukrainian troops have withdrawn most of their heavy weapons from the demarcation line, said Ukrainian president Petro Poroshenko on Monday.

He stated that the separatists in eastern Ukraine have also pulled out a significant amount of heavy weapons. Both sides confirmed that clashes have reduced but still accused each other of violating the ceasefire, underlining the fragility of the Minsk peace accord.

Meanwhile, UN Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon met with Federica Mogherini, High Representative of the European Union for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy, and agreed that the implementation of the Minsk accords was still an overarching priority in resolving the conflict in the region.
