(VOVworld) – Ukraine’s Parliament has adopted a decision to spend about 218 million USD on a campaign for snap presidential elections on May 25 following a plenary meeting on Monday. Many parliamentarians from the Party of Regions were absent.

Under an earlier decision by the legislative body, since February 25th any eligible politicians can register in the race to the Ukrainian Central Election Commission. A candidate will have to make a deposit of about 280,000 USD. The deadline for registration will last until the end of March and a campaign can proceed from April 20th until May 23rd. The election result will be announced before June 4th.

At Monday meeting, Ukrainian members of Parliament voted to terminate the powers of judges of the Constitutional Court, and appoint the governor of the National Bank of Ukraine and the chief of the Security Service of the Ukraine.
