(VOVworld) – The United Nations General Assembly and Security Council adopted on Wednesday resolutions on the UN Peacebuilding Architecture as armed conflicts are causing great causalities and leading to security and humanitarian crises worldwide.

The resolutions expand the concept of peacebuilding which will include “sustainable peace”. “Sustainable peace” encompasses activities to prevent the outbreak, escalation, continuation, and recurrence of conflict; address root causes; help parties in conflict to end hostilities; ensure national reconciliation; and move towards recovery, reconstruction and development.
UN Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon said these resolutions showed a change in strategy and mindset about peacekeeping issues based on which the UN will work more strategically with partners to prevent conflicts from recurring or breaking out in the first place.
