UN Charter has vital role in dealing with global challenges: UN chief
(VOVWORLD) - UN Secretary General Antonio Guterres said the principles outlined in the UN Charter remain the foundations of international relations and global harmony as conflicts grow more complex.

Guterres told a minister-level briefing of the UN Security Council on Wednesday that the international community is devoting more time and resources to dealing with crises than preventing them. He called for rebalancing the approach to international peace and security and underscored the need to help countries avert the outbreak of crises and the importance of a full commitment to all human rights and inclusion of women in peace efforts.
Guterres urged member countries to defer to the judgment of the International Court of Justice to help resolve escalating conflicts.
