Following the UN Security Council’s endorsement of the Iran nuclear deal on Monday, New Zealand’s Foreign Minister Murray McCully said that his country hoped the agreement could form the basis for building trust and opening a new chapter of co-operation in the Middle East.
Chinese Ambassador Liu Jieyi said that the implementation over the next 10 years was crucial.
Iran’s Ambassador to the UN, Gholamali Khoshroo, said that it was time to begin co-operation in tackling major challenges, beginning with violent extremism. He said that Iran would fulfil its commitments to neighbouring countries.
On the same day, the EU Foreign Affairs Council issued a statement expressing its support for the resolution. The statement said that the EU’s pledges to lift economic and financial sanctions on Iran would be conducted according to an appropriate timetable.
