During a meeting on the situation in Yemen at the UN Headquarters in New York on Monday, the Presidential Statement welcomed the commencement of the nationwide cessation of hostilities in Yemen from 10 April and the launch of the Yemeni peace talks in Kuwait. The statement reiterated a call to all parties to engage in the peace talks in a flexible and constructive manner without preconditions, and in good faith.

The Council called for the implementation of short-term security measures, particularly at the local level, withdrawal of militias and armed groups, handover of heavy weapons, restoration of state institutions, and resumption of political dialogues under the Council’s resolution 2216, the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) Initiative and Implementation Mechanism, and the outcomes of the comprehensive National Dialogue conference.
