On Wednesday, North Korea test-fired a ballistic missile into eastern waters, according to the Republic of Korea defense ministry. In a press statement, the 15-nation council said that the launch is in grave violation of North Korea's international obligations under UN Security Council resolutions. The council said it will closely watch North Korea and will take stronger measures on Pyongyang.

The European Union on Thursday expanded sanctions against North Korea in response to its nuclear tests and launches of ballistic missiles. In a statement, the EU called on North Korea to resume dialogues with the international community, stop its provocative acts, and abandon its nuclear, weapons of mass destruction, and missile programs.

US President Donald Trump said he will unilaterally act to deal with North Korea’s nuclear program if China won’t help.
