(VOVWORLD) - The United Nations has proposed a new approach to resolve the Libyan political crisis.

UN envoy Ghassan Salame, in a statement on Wednesday, urged Libya’s Government of National Accord to reduce the number of its members to 3, followed by a new transitional government. The Libyan people want a comprehensive plan with clear phases and targets, Mr. Salame said, adding that the plan, which is expected to take a year, will be drafted next week before holding a national conference of all related parties
Mr. Salame’s plan is supported by France, the UK, Italy, and the UN.
