UN Women provides 61,000 USD to poor households in Lao Cai
(VOVWORLD) - Six hundred poor ethnic minority households in four COVID-19 hit communes in Bat Xat district, Lao Cai province, have received 61,000 USD in cash from UN Women, a United Nations entity for Gender Equality and Women’s Empowerment.

The aid package was taken from the UN COVID-19 Response and Recovery Fund, under which each household is financed nearly 100 USD to improve living conditions.
The money will help them buy food, essential necessities and invest in their livelihoods while the epidemic continues.
Lao Cai’s economy has declined dramatically because of the sudden drop in tourism.
