Director of UNICEF in the East Asia-Pacific Region Karin Hulshof made the statement at a meeting with Head of the National Assembly Committee for Culture, Education, Youth, Adolescents, and Children Phan Thanh Binh in Hanoi on Tuesday. At the meeting, Mr. Binh emphasized the Law on Children, passed during the 13th National Assembly’s tenure, provides a legal basis for Vietnam to continue protecting children’s rights and ensuring their mental and physical development. He said he hopes for continued cooperation between Vietnam and UNICEF in supporting and caring for children in line with the Law on Children and international conventions on children’s rights.
