The UN General Assembly passed a resolution on Tuesday calling for the destruction of all types of nuclear weapons. The resolution received 174 yes votes, one no vote and 13 abstentions. This is the 19^th  time the UN General Assembly has passed this resolution, reflecting international concerns about nuclear weapons and calling on countries that own these weapons to destroy their stock piles. The resolution re-affirms the principles of the Non-Proliferation of Nuclear Weapons Treaty which enjoins members to build a world without nuclear weapons. The same day US President Barack Obama vowed to keep nuclear weapons out of the hands of terrorists and said this was the top security of his second term.
