Unstable Ukraine prior to presidential election

(VOVworld) – The situation in Ukraine remains unstable prior to the presidential election, scheduled to take place on Sunday.

Ukrainian military on Thursday opened fire near the town of Rubezhnoye in the Lugansk Region, killing four and injuring sixteen others, including civilians. Meanwhile, Ukrainian military forces on the same day enacted military operations in Slaviansk in Donetsk province, as well as the neighboring village of Semenovka.

Ukraine’s Acting President Oleksandr Turchynov confirmed that the presidential election would be held on Sunday nationwide. He stressed that any new president should be elected democratically.
