US President Donald Trump on Thursday underlined the flourishing relationship between the US and European countries and affirmed Washington’s commitment with words and actions to NATO’s Article 5 on common defense in a speech in Warsaw. Trump added that Europe should invest more in defense to protect themselves.

The remarks followed Trump’s statement that Poland is a “true ally and partner” at a press conference with Polish President Andrzej Duda the same day. The US President called the alliance between the US and Poland and NATO a key element in avoiding conflicts.
