(VOVworld) - Assistant Secretary of State for Western Hemisphere Affairs Roberta S. Jacobson will travel to Cuba on Sunday for the third round of US-Cuba talks.

The talks are expected to begin Monday and last until mid-week. Roberta Jacobson will meet with her Cuban counterpart, Josefina Vidal, director general of the US division of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, to continue discussions on reestablishing diplomatic relations and reopening embassies in the two countries before the upcoming Summit of the Americas in Panama taking place on April 10-11. President Barack Obama is to attend the summit, at which Cuban President Raul Castro will also participate for the first time. US is weighing the possibility of crossing the name of Cuba out of the list of countries supporting terrorism. Besides this round of talks, the two sides are expected to meet again later this month to discuss issues related to human rights and cooperation in the field of telecommunication and information.
