US President Barack Obama ended his visit to Argentina

(VOVworld) – US President Barack Obama ended his 2-day official visit to Argentina to strengthen bilateral ties between the two countries.

Speaking at the meeting, President Obama and President Mauricio Macri committed to bolster cooperation in all realms, especially in trade, investment, human rights protection and fight against terrorism.

President Obama appreciated positive changes of Argentina under the lead of President Macri, adding that the two countries would be important allies in the future. He praised contributing efforts of Buenos Aires in negotiations with investors to end the lawsuit between South American countries and New York court’s creditors, which took place after Argentina’s bankruptcy in 2001.

President Macri thanked for President Obama’s permission to decrypt military and confidential documents on Argentina’s last dictatorial period. He emphasized that the visit of President Obama showed the solidarity of the two countries and the support of the White House for Argentina’s changes.

On this occasion, President Obama attended the 40th anniversary of Argentina’s last military coup on March 24th, 1976.
