US to resume talks with Russia on missile defense system

The US will not limit tactical and technological specifications and the position of elements of the National Missile Defense (NMD) system when transferring data to Russia. The announcement was made on Thursday by Madelyn Creedon, Assistant Secretary of Defense for Global Strategic Affairs, at a hearing session at the US congress. Creedon said Obama’s administration is considering resuming NMD talks with Russia, as neither side has yet made any significant progress over the past year, and this has eroded other aspects of bilateral relations. Also at the hearing session, Vice Admiral James Syring, Director of the Pentagon's Missile Defense Agency, said none of the US leaders has asked him to declassify key data on the US missile defense system for Russia.
