Deputy PM Vuong Dinh Hue works with Stephen Censky, First Deputy Secretary of the US Department of Agriculture

First Deputy Secretary of USDA Stephen Censky made the statement at a meeting on Tuesday in Washington with Deputy Prime Minister Vuong Dinh Hue, who is on an official visit to the US.

Mr. Hue said Vietnam considers the US an important trading partner and proposed that the USDA sign a framework agreement on agriculture cooperation with Vietnam’s Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development.

He asked the US agency to be flexible in its equivalence assessment and to facilitate Vietnam’s catfish exports to the US.

Mr. Censky said the USDA will work with the MARD to implement Mr. Hue’s proposals, and asked Vietnam to consider importing US fruits such as blueberries and citrus fruits.
