Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc

Speaking at an online conference between the government and localities in Hanoi on Friday, Prime Minister Phuc acknowledged Vietnam’s achievements in FDI attraction, export value, the number of newly-established enterprises, increasing tourism, and public debt restructuring. The Prime Minister asked for resolute efforts to achieve the growth target of 6.7% next year. He said: “We need to boost productivity, improve indexes on people’s life quality including those concerning the environment, stability, safety, and better spiritual and material life for everyone, especially poor and vulnerable people. This is the aim of sustainable growth.”

The Prime Minister asked for dramatic changes in every sector, locality, enterprise, and product. He stressed the importance to work out measures to build a self-reliant economy in the new context: “We need to work out measures to build a self-reliant economy. It’s important to strengthen economic integration but we should take into consideration this matter. We need to support state, private, and cooperative enterprises. State agencies will increase negotiations to expand markets and diversify relations to prevent the economy from depending on anyone.”
