While receiving visiting Vietnamese Deputy Minister of Industry and Trade Do Thang Hai on Friday, Ms. Michetti suggested that Vietnam create favorable conditions for the two countries’ business operation, especially in garment and textiles, and agriculture. She also hoped for more cultural exchange and people-to-people diplomacy between the two countries.

Deputy Minister Do Thang Hai said Vietnam and Argentina should further cooperation to raise two-way trade turnover to 3.5 billion USD this year and open markets for Vietnamese fruits to Argentina and vice versa. He urged for more trade promotion activities between the two countries.

On this occasion, Mr. Hai asked Argentina, which is the founder of the Common Market of the Southern America (MERCOSUR), to reach a deal on MERCOSUR’s trade preferences for Vietnam.

Earlier this week, Deputy Minister Hai and Horacio Reyser, Argentina’s Secretary of International Economic Relations of the Foreign Ministry, co-chaired a Vietnam-Argentina Intergovernmental Committee meeting in Buenos Aires.
