The biennial event, which was first held in Malaysia in 1985, acts as an important forum for chief judges, judges, and other judicial officials in the region to meet and share experience to improve the efficiency of court operations. With the theme of strengthening the role of courts in boosting and improving jurisdiction principles, this year’s conference attracted the participation of 34 delegations from countries in the region.

In the second session on increasing public trust in the court system, Chief Judge Nguyen Hoa Binh gave participants an insight into the relations between courts and media agencies as well as the agencies’ dissemination work about courts’ operations.

Delegates showed interest in Vietnam’s experience in making verdicts and courts’ decisions available online in order to increase publicity and transparency of the courts, ensuring people’s right to access information and strengthening public supervision over the court’s trial activities.
