The 2-day event co-chaired by Deputy Minister Public Security Bui Van Nam and Marc Ablong, Deputy Secretary for Policy at the Department of Home Affairs, was the first dialogue held since the two countries upgraded their ties to a strategic partnership in March, 2018.

Both sides focused discussions on judicial support for criminal issues, the Vietnam-Australia Joint Transnational Crime Center (JTCC), and looked at possibility to upgrade the Center to a Task Force. High on the agenda were also strengthened cooperation in fighting drug, financial, and hi-tech crimes and money laundering, ensuring cyber security,  immigration, and anti-terrorism.
