Vietnam becomes member of UN Commission on International Trade Law
(VOVWORLD) - Vietnam has for the first time become a member of the United Nations Commission on International Trade Law, signing up for a six-year term.

Vietnam won 157 out of 193 votes in an election during the 73rd session of the UN General Assembly in New York on Monday, a result that reflects Vietnam’s growing international prestige and recognizes Vietnam’s efforts and contributions to the shared tasks of the international community.
Ambassador Dang Dinh Quy, head of Vietnam's Permanent Mission to the UN, said Vietnam’s candidacy was motivated by its policy of active international integration, multilateral foreign relations, and international law engagement. He said Vietnam’s membership on the commission marks a step forward in international integration and pursues its policy of helping to build and shape international law within the UN framework.
