(VOVworld) - Vietnam is calling for drastic measures to be implemented worldwide to eliminate extreme poverty and ensure human rights for every individual.

Ambassador Nguyen Trung Thanh, Head of Vietnam’s Permanent Mission to the UN and other international organisations in Geneva, spoke at a UN dialogue on extreme poverty and human rights on Monday.

Ambassador Thanh highlighted Vietnam’s efforts to reduce poverty and ensure equality between regions and social classes.

Mr. Thanh condemned terrorism of any kind for any reason, stressing that terrorists should be punished for violations of human rights.

He said Vietnam reiterates its commitment to obligations set by the UN Convention and Protocol on Combating Terrorism to which Vietnam is a signatory.
