The two sides agreed to boost cooperation in education, training, tourism, and culture and educate their younger generations on the history of bilateral ties. They agreed on the need to accelerate the bilateral agreements on border marker plantation, and the settlement of legal procedures for Vietnamese people in Cambodia.

They highlighted the importance of strengthening unity within ASEAN and its central role and maintaining its fundamental principles. The two sides will boost cooperation within the Mekong Sub-region and the Cambodia-Vietnam-Laos Development Triangle frameworks and work closely together when Vietnam becomes ASEAN Chair and Cambodia hosts the 13th ASEM Summit in 2020. They stressed the importance of maintaining peace, security, and stability in the East Sea, settling disputes by peaceful means in line with international law, the 1982 UN Convention on the Law of the Sea, and soon finalizing the Code of Conduct of Parties in the East Sea.
