Participants proposed solutions to promote women’s engagement and leadership in political dialogues, improve women’s productivity and job opportunities, and ensure gender equality.

The same day, the Vietnam Women’s Museum in Hanoi received 450 items, including letters, books, newspapers, and magazines, about milestones in the relationship between American and Vietnamese women. The donor was attorney Nancy Hollander, member of the US delegation who met with Vietnamese women in Jakarta, Indonesia, in 1965. Hollander said: “I just want the museum to have the documents so the young people know what the women went through in Vietnam and how they struggled and came together from the two countries where there was a war to find peace.”

At the presentation ceremony, Hollander reunited with former Vice President Nguyen Thi Binh, head of the delegation of the Women’s Union for the Liberation of South Vietnam to the Jakarta meeting. Binh said: “I’m happy to meet my friend today to recall such a very important event during Vietnam’s liberation war. At the 1965 meeting, Hollander was a student and she has kept these documents for 55 years. These precious items show her feelings about Vietnam.”

The Women’s Union in the Central Highlands province of Gia Lai took this occasion to launch a year for the safety of woman and girls.
