Vietnam, Chile conclude political consultation of deputy foreign ministers

(VOVworld) – Chile’s Deputy Foreign Minister Edgardo Riveros Marin paid an official visit to Vietnam and attended the 5th Vietnam-Chile political consultation of deputy foreign ministers.

During his visit on October 16-17 he met Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Pham Binh Minh, who told him that Vietnam treasures its comprehensive cooperation with Chile. Mr. Marin said Chile considers Vietnam an important partner in its Asia-Pacific pivot and wishes to enhance its comprehensive relations with Vietnam.

At the political consultation session on Monday, Marin and Deputy Foreign Minister Ha Kim Ngoc discussed measures to boost bilateral cooperation in agriculture, processing, manufacturing, mining, fisheries, and training.
The two sides agreed to support each other within international organizations and multilateral forums, and insisted on resolving disputes by peaceful means, not using or threatening to use violence, and respecting diplomatic and legal procedures based on international law, particularly the 1982 UNCLOS.
The two deputy foreign ministers, on behalf of their governments, signed an agreement on visa exemption for ordinary Vietnamese and Chilean passport holders.
