The statement was made by Party leader Nguyen Phu Trong while receiving Chinese State Councilor and Foreign Minister Wang Yi in Hanoi on Monday. He urged both countries to increase support for each other for mutual development, and act in compliance with common perceptions of the two Parties and countries’ leaders, as well as the Agreement on basic principles guiding the settlement of issues at sea in order to peacefully address disputes. He called on both sides to control differences and avoid unilateral acts that would complicate the situation, to ensure peace and order in the East Sea.

Minister Wang affirmed that China treasures ties with Vietnam. He asked both sides to continue to enhance strategic exchanges, boost cooperation, control disagreements at sea, and maintain the developing trend of ties between the two Parties and States.
