Vietnam, China to boost defense cooperation

(VOVworld) – A high-ranking Vietnamese delegation led by Deputy Defense Minister Senior Lieutenant General Nguyen Chi Vinh is on a working visit to China.

During the visit, the delegation will attend a Core Group Meeting of the Munich Security Conference and the Vietnam - China defense policy dialogue. Mr. Vinh said: “The dialogue is a preparation for the upcoming visit to Vietnam by the Chinese Defense Minister for a border defense policy dialogue and Vietnam - China border defense exchanges in Lai Chau and Yun Nan. The two sides have signed a number of bilateral cooperative documents. Chinese Defense Minister Chang Wanquan said he is pleased by what Vietnam and China have done and said China will do more to boost bilateral defense cooperation for peace and stability in the region”.  

Deputy Defense Minister Nguyen Chi Vinh said the two countries signed a memorandum of understanding on Vietnam - China defense cooperation and several documents on training border officials, navy soldiers, and sea police, and promoting cooperation in rescue work.
