Mr. Hai applauded the service of heroic mothers to the past struggle for national liberation and reunification, and to national construction and development today. He asked authorities at all levels to continue to care for policy families in line with the tradition “When drinking water, remember its source”.

Officials of Quang Tri province burned incense and laid floral wreaths to pay tribute to heroic martyrs at martyrs’ cemeteries and Quang Tri Ancient Citadel. They also visited and presented gifts to heroic mothers, war invalids, and policy beneficiaries.

On this occasion, 250 objects and photos are on display at the Hoa Lo Prison Relic Site, downtown Hanoi, highlighting the cruelty of the colonial prisons, and telling moving stories about those who gave their lives for national independence and freedom.

Pham Tu, former Director of the site’s management board, told VOV about the display, entitled “The gratefulness”.

“I’m very moved to return to this historic place. The displayed items linger in my mind. Since 1994 I have met many political prisoners, who are now much older. Some have died. Though we have recorded those historical events in history books and in exhibit like this, it will never be enough to repay their sacrifice,” said Tu.

Da Nang and Ho Chi Minh City’s Fine Arts Museums have jointly organized an exhibit called “Resistance war sketches”, in which 40 sketches portray the struggles of Vietnamese people during the war.
