Vietnam commits to successfully implement SDGs

(VOVWORLD) -The Vietnamese government has issued a National Action Plan to implement the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development, which demonstrates Vietnam's determination and responsibility for achieving SDGs.

Addressing a meeting of the High-level Political Forum (HLPF) in New York on Monday, Vice Minister of Planning and Investment Nguyen The Phuong said Vietnam considers sustainable development as a common goal in the country's development strategy, and remains committed to successfully implementing SDGs.  Vietnam’s achievements in socio – economic development after more than three decades of “doi moi”, including the fruitful implementation of many MDGs, have created a solid foundation for realising SDGs. He said in addition to national endeavors, Vietnam requires international support, in both financial and non-financial terms, in employment, health, education, economic development, the environment and reduction of inequality.

At a global level, Vietnam believes that maintaining peace and security on the basis of respect for international law, intensifying cooperation, strengthening partnerships, incorporating multi-stakeholder participation, and sharing knowledge, experience, and technology are crucial to successfully implement the 2030 Agenda.
