Vietnam considers traditional relationship with China valuable asset

(VOVWORLD) - Vietnam hopes to strengthen trust with China and expand the two countries’ cooperation while sustaining peace and stability in the East Sea based on respect for each other’s interests and international law, Party General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong said at a reception in Hanoi on Sunday for Chinese Politburo member and Vice Chairman of the Central Military Commission Fan Chang Long.

The same day, President Tran Dai Quang told Vice Chairman Fan that the Party, State and people of Vietnam attach special importance to the traditional relationship with China, and consider it a valuable asset. President Quang urged the two sides to realize cooperation goals contained in their joint vision statement on defense cooperation in order to deepen links between the two defense ministries and enhance political trust between the two countries.

Vice Chairman Fan said the Chinese delegation’s visit aims to implement important common goals agreed on by the leaders of the two Parties and States, including fostering cooperation between the two armies. He added that China highly values its relationship with Vietnam, adding that the Chinese army, together with the Vietnamese army, is determined to carry out agreements between the two countries, contributing to the development of bilateral ties.
