Vietnam, EU seek to expand defense cooperation

(VOVWORLD) - Vietnam highly values the position and role of the EU and its defense cooperation with Vietnam, Deputy Defense Minister Senior Lt. General Nguyen Chi Vinh said.

At a meeting of EU Chiefs of Defense in Brussels this week, he shared Vietnam's experience in training UN peacekeeping forces. He said Vietnam and the EU should soon sign an agreement establishing a framework for Vietnam's participation in EU crisis management activities.

On the sidelines of the conference, the Vietnamese delegation had working sessions with EU agencies and defense commanders to EU, UN discuss the parameters of future cooperation and solicit their support for Vietnam’s candidacy for a non-permanent seat on the UN Security Council for the 2020-2021 tenure.
