Vietnam, EU step up defense cooperation

(VOVWORLD) - Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Pham Binh Minh has described high-level meetings between military leaders of Vietnam and the EU as an important step in increasing mutual understanding and contributing to enhancing bilateral defence cooperation.

At a reception for Chairman of the EU Military Committee General Mikhail Kostarakos in Hanoi on Tuesday, Deputy PM Minh suggested Vietnam and the EU intensify the exchange of all-level delegations share experience in areas of mutual concern and build cooperation frameworks and mechanisms. The two sides should also step up collaboration in areas such as cyber security and information-technology, UN peace-keeping, military medicine, humanitarian aid, and the settlement of war legacy in Vietnam.
