Vietnam finalizes CPTPP dossier for National Assembly’s ratification this year

(VOVWORLD) -Vietnam and other members of the Comprehensive and Progressive Trans-Pacific Partnership (CPTPP) are finalizing procedures for parliamentary ratification.

Spokeswoman for Vietnam’s Foreign Ministry, Le Thi Thu Hang, told a press conference in Hanoi Thursday. “The CPTPP will take effect 60 days after at least 6 member countries finish national ratification procedures. Vietnam and other members are finalizing procedures in line with each country’s law to soon bring it into play to enhance cooperation for mutual benefits and regional economic growth. The Ministry of Industry and Trade is scheduled to submit the dossier to the National Assembly’s meeting later this year.”

Mrs. Hang said CPTPP is a free trade deal and countries can join after its coming into force.

She told the media that Vietnam appreciated the summit of US President Donald Trump and Russian President Vladimir Putin in Helsinki, Finland. Vietnam expects that the US-Russia relations will develop firmly to contribute to global peace, cooperation, and development.
